Gate City Advisory

About Us

Two principals.
Zero handoffs.

Gate City Advisory was founded on a simple premise: CFO teams navigating transactions need more than advice — they need AI-powered execution that leaves them with better operations, not just better decks.

Why we started Gate City

After years of working with companies through transactions — on both the advisory and operational sides — we saw the same pattern repeat: talented CFO teams stretched thin, scrambling to satisfy diligence requests while keeping the business running.

The advisors they hired delivered valuable analysis, but when the engagement ended, so did the value. The insights lived in decks that gathered dust. The data stayed scattered across systems. The AI tools that could have transformed their operations never got deployed.

We founded Gate City Advisory to change that equation. By combining deep transaction expertise with AI engineering and systems architecture, we deliver advisory work that compounds in value long after we leave.

What we learn in diligence becomes the Day-1 plan, the AI workflows, and the operating system that runs your business.

Our founding principle

Meet the Partners

Our backgrounds overlap where it matters. Andy's FP&A and deal work defines what gets built. Jason's implementations make the next deal sharper. Every engagement compounds.

Deals & Numbers

Prior to forming Gate City Advisory, Andy served as Managing Partner of Halpern Advisory, providing investment banking, transaction advisory, and CFO-to-go services to middle-market and growth-stage firms. Before that, he served as Head of Finance, Accounting, and Strategic Analytics for a leading Southeast-based retailer—managing everything from reporting and working capital optimization to transaction preparation. Andy began his career as a Big Four CPA, advising public, private, and strategic clients across dozens of mergers and acquisitions.

At Gate City, Andy’s work shapes what gets built: the KPIs he tracks become the dashboards Jason automates, the diligence findings become Day 1 integration specs, and the corporate finance frameworks he designs become the logic inside every AI workflow. He holds a Master’s in Accounting and a BBA from the University of Georgia.

When he’s not helping clients make smarter decisions, you’ll likely find Andy outside with his wife Sophie, daughter Izzie, and their Australian Shepherd, Alfie. A self-proclaimed “jock-nerd” and proud UGA alum, there’s a good chance you’ll catch him on the basketball court or between the hedges on a Saturday, dressed in red and black.

AI & Technology

Prior to forming Gate City Advisory, Jason served as Managing Partner of Catalyst IQ, providing outsourced CTO support, AI architecture, and technology strategy to middle-market firms. Before that, he served as CIO of a wholesale manufacturer distributing to retail and direct-to-consumer channels—owning the full technology stack from ERP and WMS to e-commerce, data warehouse, and BI. Jason began his career as an enterprise implementation consultant, deploying platforms from scoping and data migration through integration and go-live.

At Gate City, Jason combines that operational depth with AI. The systems he builds are shaped by Andy’s deal findings and corporate finance expertise—so the dashboards track the right metrics, the automations target the right bottlenecks, and the data infrastructure answers the questions your CFO team is actually asking. He holds an MS in Analytics from Georgia Tech.

When he’s not building systems for clients, you’ll find Jason at home with his wife Sam, daughter Brooke, and their dog Charlotte. A proudly unathletic appreciator of all things Atlanta sports, he’s more likely found texting his friends about the misery of cheering on the Braves, Hawks, and Falcons.

Our Name

Why “Gate City”?

Atlanta has been called the “Gate City of the South” since the 1850s. The city was originally founded as “Terminus”—the endpoint where four major railroad lines converged. As commerce flowed through this hub, Atlanta became the gateway through which goods, people, and opportunities moved.

We chose this name because it captures what we do: we're the gateway to growth for companies navigating critical transitions. Like those original railroad lines, we help everything converge—deals, operations, and systems—into a unified path forward.

And just as those railroads built infrastructure that served Atlanta for generations, we build financial and operational infrastructure that serves our clients long after our engagement ends.
